Essays, poems, conversations, and resources that have shaped this work

Some are scholarly.

Some are personal.

Most begin with a question.

Some reflections invite reading. Others invite stillness.

A Quiet Place to Remember

This space is offered as a place for remembrance, reflection, gratitude, grief, and connection.

‍In medicine, we carry many endings.
Some are marked. Many are not.
Some remain.

‍These gather—
faces, moments, conversations, patients—
held quietly, without a place to set them down.

‍This is a place to pause.
To sit with what remains.

‍To speak, perhaps—
to yourself, or to someone who is not here.
Or to listen.

‍No words are required.
Nothing needs to be shared.

‍Inspired, in part, by the Wind Phone—
a simple way of speaking into the air.

‍If it helps:

‍Find a quiet place.
Take a stethoscope, and listen for a while—
to your own breath, or your own heart.

‍Speak, or write.
Or simply sit.

‍Please spend a few moments here, or longer.
Or just arrive, and leave.

‍If you wish, you may leave a single word—
a name, a feeling, a place.
Over time, these words gather here, then fade.

‍ ‍

What stays with you?

If you wish, leave one word.
